Description
Material:titanium
Purity:99.995%-99.999%
Key Applications:
-
Semiconductor Industry: The most critical application. Titanium films are used as:
-
Adhesion Layer: It sticks very well to silicon and silicon dioxide, providing a foundation for other metals like aluminum or copper.
-
Diffusion Barrier: A thin layer of titanium (or more commonly, titanium nitride – TiN) prevents copper from diffusing into the silicon and ruining the microchip.
-
-
Decorative Coatings: When sputtered in a nitrogen atmosphere, titanium forms Titanium Nitride (TiN), which has a bright, gold color. It’s used to coat watches, jewelry, and bathroom fixtures for a durable, attractive finish.
-
Tool Coatings: TiN coatings dramatically increase the hardness, wear resistance, and service life of cutting tools (e.g., drill bits, milling cutters) and molds.
-
Optical Coatings: Titanium dioxide (TiO₂) films are used on lenses and eyewear for their high refractive index and anti-reflective properties.
